It's true. It's not a glass-bottomed boat. Here is it: http://www.lakegeorgeshoreline.com/boats_ethanallen.html

There's no way Lake George is 3.5 hours from the city. I used to drive up there very fall and it took at least 4.5-5 hours.

That being said, this is a very sad story.

according to the Times and Newsday it was a glass enclosed boat, not a glass bottomed boat. that is likely why so many people were unable to escape.

also, the photographer whose pic ended up on the Times wesite is named T.J. Hooker.

I grew up in Bolton Landing, a small town on Lake George about 5 miles from where the accident happened. I would not at all be surprised if the larger boat (The Mohican) caused the much smaller boat to flip over. Its wake is giant compared to any other boat on the lake. Being foolish kids, we used to drive our boats right behind the Mohican and jump the wake and dive in the water just after it pulled out from the local pier. It was fun then, but it’s sad to think that it possibly caused this accident.
