I'm seconding Jack's comment about various people who wander into a building for just those reasons. Honest to Monkeyman, about 6 years ago in the middle of winter, a homeless woman came to the floor in the 57th Buliding I work that I work in. At about 11 in the morning, she took off all her very odiferous clothes, and took a massive dump right there in the hall. In front of a late 90s dot com. Hmmm. Maybe she knew something.

Ha ha, Big Dave! You and I must have gone to the same university! 'course at least they had signs--in high school, they took all the swinging lid things off the trash cans because they were covered in dip. I guess they figured, if you can't beat 'em, remove anything that gets in their way.

At the university that I used to frequent down in Tennessee somewhere, the music department had (maybe still still has) little itty bitty signs above the drinking fountains saying "DO NOT SPIT TOBACCO"! The presence of the sign was worse than the possibility that someone might have actually done it.

Last Friday went to my lobby to find blood spattered everywhere and a bloody handprint on a chair. Seems an old lady in our building fell in the lobby and hit her head. She managed to get to the elevator. The kicker? The super didn't clean up the blood for a day. (Not sure if this was due to some legal reason?) Of course, I'm still waiting for the "Please!!! Don't bleed in the lobby."

Horrifying as it may be to some, it looks like some have never lived in a building where homeless people would sneak into the building and steal doormats to make a makeshift bed and sleep under the stairs in the winter. That and/or use the lobby of the building as a makeshift bathroom. Welcome to New York! May your worst problem in life be a weak mochachinno.

i've seen worse signs - back in Stuyvessant Town Apartments, managment would post signs about a murderer still being at large for the killing of a resident the previous year
