Giants-Chargers Preview

2005_09_sgiantslogo.jpgThe Giants look to get to 3-0 this Sunday night as they travel to San Diego to play the Chargers in a game on ESPN at 8:30. The game marks a homecoming of sorts for quarterback Eli Manning. Manning was selected first overall by the Chargers in the 2004 draft, but refused to play for them, prompting a trade to the Giants during the draft. Fans and players in San Diego have not forgotten Manning’s feelings and are primed to give him a “warm” welcome.

The boo birds won’t be the only obstacle the Giants face. The new “LT”, LaDainian Tomlinson, is one of the best rushers in the NFL. Tight End Antonio Gates caught thirteen TD’s last year and creates matchup problems for a Giants secondary which gave up 375 yards last week. At 0-2 the Chargers have to win this game to turn their season around and Gothamist thinks they will. The Giants keep it close, but fall 24-21 on a late field goal.

should be an interesting test for manning and i'm sure they will welcome him home with open arms.
