Monday Night Music Picks

13 & god It's an exciting night for hip-hop in NYC. There's a big who's-who Katrina benefit show at BB King Blues Club with M1, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, the Beatnuts, and many more. Multiple members of Wu-Tang will be at Northsix in Brooklyn, and hip-hop meets indie-rock-electronica at Irving Plaza tonight with Notwist and Themselves as 13 & God. "Take a rock band that isn't really a rock band and a hip-hop group that isn't really hip-hop, and what you end up with is an experimental post-everything collaboration that succeeds by not adhering to convention. And when your 'rock' band is German knob-twiddlers The Notwist and your hip-hop group is Bay Area weirdos Themselves, you end up with a hell of a combination." [Treblezine]

Bon Jovi The 2100 capacity Nokia Theatre opens tonight in Times Square. You can join the Bon Jovi concert celebration for only $75. The ticket price is high because, for Bon Jovi, this is a small venue show. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster, where you'll also find a list of all the shows coming up at the same place.

The rest below...

"This month we will be releasing 'Patience is Proving' in the USofA. It's a limited release of 250 copies and is on a project called 'Stolen Transmission vs Fierce Panda'. Stolen Transmission is Sarah Lewitinn's label (aka http://www.ultragrrrl.com, aka 50% of the infamous DJing duo The TARTS OF PLEASURE), and she'll be hand customising every copy. It will be a collectors edition and will only be available through her website.... Our official release party/gig will be on the 19th of September at the Mercury Lounge, after which will be embarking on a little stint down the East Coast with Towers of London. How about some mention of the "Big Apple to the Big Easy" relief concert? It is happening on Tuesday night at MSG and Radio City- with tons of bands. Expensive tickets, but it all goes to charity. What is more, the people who are putting it together are from NOLA, and many have lost everything. I kid you not, there are people up here trying to bring great music to NYC and raise money, who are literally wearing clothes and shoes they got from the Red Cross. Some of them have had to relocate their families, have lost all their worldly possessions, yet are still trying to their jobs and do good for their city. Please support them.
