Giants-Saints Preview

2005_09_sgiantslogo.jpgIt will be a surreal scene at Giants Stadium Monday Night. Because of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints were unable to play in the Superdome and the NFL decided to move the Saints “home” opener to New Jersey. So, you will see the Saints logo in the end zones and the Giants wearing their road uniforms while playing at Giants Stadium in a game that will start at 7:30pm on a Monday. For local fans used to being unable to attend games, tickets are still available.

As for the game itself, the Giants are hoping to improve to 2-0 for the first time since the 2000 season. To do so, the Giants will have to improve on a passing game that was inconsistent in last Sunday’s victory over the Cardinals. Eli Manning completed only ten of twenty-three passes and looked more befuddled than brilliant.

The Saints come into the game riding an emotional high. They beat a tough Carolina team on the road and there are reports that they are angry that Monday’s game is not being played closer to New Orleans. Gothamist thinks they will use that emotion to their advantage and defeat the Giants 24-21.
