Run, Ratdog, Run!

Last month, many chihuahuas competed in the New York regionals for the 2005 National Chihuahua Races. Gothamist couldn't go because we are afraid of tiny dogs that make us nervous. But we would be remiss if we did not let you know that Snoop Dog, a 14 month-old pup from the Upper West Side, would be competing in the Nationals, held at Petco Park in San Diego, this weekend. The Daily News spoke to Snoop Dog's trainer's mother (the trainer is 5 years old) who explained that the dog had a slow start, not moving at all, but later "flew across the finish line, only five minutes after the winner" during the heats. And then Snoop Dog won the final versus that winner, which seems like a raw deal but rules are rules.

There are chihuahua Meet Up groups in Manhattan and Brooklyn. But the cutest Meet Up dog group we know of is the dachshund one - weiner dogs equal funny!
