<description>&lt;p&gt;Actually, from having spoken to many cabbies, it turns out that the fare hike hasn&apos;t made much of a difference in their bottom line.  Immediately after the taxi commission raised fares, the two main companies which lease out medallions to cab drivers raised their rates proportionally.  Basically, the only cabbies that saw any benefit were the minority that own their own medallions.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
