A Sinking Ship

Mets fans, say good bye to the meaningful games because it looks like there will be no post season for the Mets. After returning from a 2-8 trip on the road which included 6 straight losses, the Mets returned home to lose to the Nationals last night, 4-2. While they have 18 games left, the Mets are now 6.5 games out of the Wild Card with 6 teams ahead of them.

The loss last night was the team's 13th in the last 16. Not exactly the way to contend for a spot in the playoffs, is it? But the Mets are becoming familiar with mathematical formulas, because that's the only chance they have of playing more than two games in October.

I can't remember seeing a runner on first thrown out at second on a base hit up the middle before!

This is Mike Cameron. I just wish I could have contributed more.
