The plans for the International Freedom Center should have been scrapped a long time ago. From what I've heard about the plans so far it sounds like pure P.C. playground for eggheads.

Great weblog and a real good source of local NYC news.

BTW my weblog is a podcast of NYC's "Two Most Dangerous Callers to Talk Radio". Frank from Queens and John of Staten Island have been broadcasting from "The Right Perspective" for over 6 years - this is a must listen for every NY'er or anyone interested in socio-political debate.

From Birdwatchers Digest:

September 11th memorial, Tribute in Light, Trapped Migrating Birds in 2004 When migrating birds moved toward the huge floodlights that make up a part of New York City's 2004 September 11th Tribute in Light memorial, their internal navigation systems failed and they became disoriented and trapped for hours. This account provides a description—and a potential solution—to this unfortunate occurrence.

http://www.birdwatchersdigest.com/site/birdwire/tribute_light.aspx

The beams were visibly filled with chaotically swirling birds. They looked like clouds of bugs. Their twittering was audible. Their brightly illuminated bodies were reflected in the windows of nearby buildings —from a distance they looked like sparkling motes or glitter floating in the light. The beams were so bright, that some birds looked as though they were on fire.

How is it that the planned launch of the new WTC is in 2010? Nearly nine years after 9/11. Did the old WTC take that long to plan and build?
