Did you think beer was bad for all that exercise you do? Well, it's not! It's so good for you that Coors Light is now a sponsor for the ING New York City Marathon! In addition to being a sponsor of the event, us New Yorkers will be "treated" to promotions at bars and restaurants along the marathon route. You hear that? Bad beer to a neighborhood near you!
The marketing whizzes at Coors love you marathon runners, "After running 26.2 miles, marathoners deserve positive recognition and we look forward to toasting their remarkable achievement at the finish line." For your achievement, you can look forward to replenishing your fluids with a beer flavored water, Coors Light. It makes finishing all the more worth it, yeah?
The 36th running of the New York City Marathon is November 6th. No word on whether they will be serving regular Coors for extra carbs at the pre-race meal.

mmm there is nothing wrong with some cheap beer in a can. pbr isnt the only tastiness in a can. a case of coors lights on a summertime porch is a totally awesome combo
Sorry, Call me bourgeosie, but two things I promised myself not to abide once I graduated from college - bad toilet paper and cheap canned beer.
You mean they're not replacing the water tables with beer tables?
As an aside, back in the day before gatorade, flat coke and beer were the beverages of choice for marathon runners. Lots of sugar and carbs.
beer is the wonder food! aside from the carbs, it's chock full of vitamins, minerals and cancer fighting anti oxidants as well. alcohol isnt so good for you in large quantities (liver damage and cancer), but in small regular amounts it has been shown to reduce the likelyhood of getting alzheimer's and other degenerative brain diseases.
the only problem is, the alcohol is a diuretic so when youre dehydrated from running or other excersise, make sure to get re-hydrated before you start drinking. my personal favorite post workout drink is a Haake Beck's non-alcoholic beer. so good, and good for you! and after a few of those, you are rehydrated and can start drinking real beer seamlessly.
Back in the day, British cycling clubs used to carry Guinness with them for an extra blast of energy. But I doubt you can get a blast of much of anything from Coors Light.
And for all the hipsters who drink PBR because they think it's ironically cool and homey -- only hipsters drink that crap. Us real white trash folks go for Natural Light.
I hope Coors sponsors the "Verranzano Narrows Bridge Piss Your Coors Stop."
mmm Natty Light...
My favorite beer back in college when I couldnt afford better stuff. One crisp winter morning on my way to school I found an unopened can on someone's porch, sitting ina inch of snow. It must've been like 8 am. I did not hesitate to crack it open and drink it while walking, it was perfectly cold and delicious. Ahhh, college :)
um. i love coors light.
