Baby Hawk Gets Clipped at Cemetery

2005_08_cypresshills.jpgA four month old red-tailed hawk was found with a shattered wing at the Cypress Hills National Cemetery. The hawk was shot by a BB gun and what kills us was that she was "lying next to a tombstone" (sure, she would have to be near a tombstone at a cemetery, but it's just sad) and she was named "Ruby" because the tombstone was for "Rubin." Animal Care and Control doubts she'll be able to fly again and will need to find a zoo for her to live. Of course, NYC's favorite red-tailed hawk Pale Male was mentioned as possibly being Ruby's father or even grandfather. Lincoln Karim, passionate Pale Male observer and best known for bothering Paula Zahn about Pale Male's Fifth Avenue digs so much that he was arrested, said, "Pale Male has 22 kids out there, and it's known that some are in Queens."

Hmmm, I would've titled this post Redhawk Down. I need to get my own site.
