My dog enjoys drinking the duck poo flavored pond water in Prospect Park. As a beagle, with an amazing sense of smell, he has apparently deemed it above reproach.

My mixed-breed rescue dog is a pretty decent sommelier, too, with an extensive track record. I have been trying to pitch to magazines a piece about her judgment in these matters. (She also scoots around the dining room table when I crinkle wax paper, but that's another story.)

Remember that Columbo episode where he tricks the wine guy by having his own wine served to him ina restaurant that was spoiled because the power failed in his wine cellars for awhile after a storm and Columbo can now prove that the wine guy killed his brother?!
