The Medical Examiner's office confirmed that Mellie Carballo and Maria Pesantez, the 18 year-old college students whose deaths made city health and police officials wonder if there was a citywide "bad heroin" epidemic, died of heroin and cocaine overdoses - with no evidence that the drugs were tainted. The deaths were called accidental, but police are still investigating the four other overdose deaths during a two week period; the Daily News adds there may be a seventh death related to this recent spate of ODs.
Over last weekend, the families of the girls struggled with the news that their daughters probably died of drug overdoses, saying, "This was a crime, a murder," and friends are still stunned and confused. The two men who were partying with Carballo and Pesantez had been arrested for unrelated incidents, and it's unclear if they will be connected to the deaths.

Oh not my daughter... she would never. What your little hip cool daughter does when your not around will surprise you and an addiction to heroin can fool people for a long long time. These parents should accept the fact their daughters had issues with a dangerous drug and mixing of a depressant and a stimulant. The one who murdered their daughters are the girls themselves.

fake ids, being friends with djs and promoters who look the other way (some because they're under age as well), etc. that's how. many of those lastnightsparty/misshapes/les cover girls/boys and club kids are under 21. and although they are a handful, some are still even in highschool.

hi...well first of all i don't think that the girls did this intentionally i believe that they were tricked by those two freaks.....why would they decide to hang out with 40 year-olds when they are only 18...i seriously think that the truth was turned upside down because the more extravagant a story is the more publicity the magazine or news paper gets....this is why we hear these crazy stories which at some point begin to seem unrealistic.....i remember reading that Maria was an NYU student with an almost full scholarship and that she had gone to ecuador for like 6 weeks before her death....i have to agree with her mom, would a person that was doing drugs be able to go 6 weeks without doing drugs and not show any signs of withdrawls?
i think this story was fake and disgusting i think people should have apologized to the families of the girls.....sorry in behalf of this morons!!!!!!!!
