cheaper/stabilized fares: nope. better service: nope. more comfortable stations, less like the 4th level of hell: nope. ability for commuters to know where the trains are, when they are coming: nope. massive surveillance that will not prevent someone from carrying a bomb onto the subway, yet increase orwellian supervision, implemented for political 'cover your ass' reasons: check. TFL: 300 images of you in 1 day, and yet no images of the innocent commuter being killed by police after the london bombings. whoops! we need MORE cameras!

MTA is just getting closer and closer to mimicking what TFL (London's transport system) has in place minus the cell phone coverage they are implmenting in New York. I vaguely remember a stat that said when you take any transport in London during the day, they manage to capture about 300 images of you in ONE DAY alone...
