No Uniforms for SAG

Speaking of security measures, the Screen Actors Guild issued a warning yesterday to all of its NYC members not to buy or carry around NYPD costumes needed for various roles so as to avoid arrest. Where historically "the NYPD has issued letters signed by the police commissioner that explicitly permit Guild members to purchase police uniforms," the letter says, "in recent weeks it appears the NYPD has changed its policy."

Keeping excess uniforms off the street seems a reasonable idea (there are already rules preventing civilians from possessing or wearing police uniforms) though Gothamist wonders how similar a costume can be before making the NYPD angry (for instance, is this the end of New York strippers dressed as cops?).
