Puff Invasion

2005_08_food_chouxfactory.jpgEveryone's in a tizzy this week about Puff & Pao, the new cream puff/Brazilian cheese bread place opening in the West Village, owned by a former lawyer (eh . . . all us foodies are former lawyers, big whoop). But we've also noticed another cream puff addition to the neighborhood -- Choux Factory, on 8th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues. Between those two and Beard Papa over on Astor, the Village might just be cream puff central. According to their website, another West Village Beard Papa is in the works over on Carmine Street. Thankfully, there are almost as many New York Sports Clubs in the neighborhood.

Beard Papa, 740 Broadway, at Astor, 212-353-8888

And I was thinking cream puffs were more often found these days further up in Chelsea...

There's been a Choux Factory on 1st between 87th and 88th for about six months. Yummy.

Went to Puff & Pao today and had their chocolate cream puff--the pastry puff is pretty good but the chocolate was too light. I still prefer Beard Papa.
