from what i've heard, because tea is hot, it helps the fat flow through before it gets absorbed into your body. i have no idea if it's true or not, but i don't think jen's implying anything about chinese mysticism or exotic customs, RR.

Yes, jen, tea helps flush out the fats. chinese people are very inscrutable and mystical like that with their exotic customs and strange beliefs.

What bkylnd said. August is traditionally a slow news month but wouldn't the Times be better off just using larger type on legitimate stories rather than printing this junk?

What an annoying non-story. Step 1) Mayor makes some innocuous, commonsensical comments about his plan to lose weight. Step 2) Reporter wanders around Chinatown, repeating the comments to anyone who wants to "react" Step 3) Some people oblige with obnoxious comments, happy to assume that the mayor is a stereotyping idiot. Thank you New York Times.
