Upcoming

MUSIC: Tonight at Crash Mansion there's a free show and a free open bar...and for a good cause. Morning Theft, The Cloud Room, My Victoria, and The Rats will all perform for a second part of a benefit for Kia Nowotne. As an added bonus we hear our favorite artist, Michelle McShane, will be joining the Cloud Room for a few songs, playing autoharp.
Open bar for 1 hour between 9-10pm. Stoli is sponsoring the party, so there will be specials on that all night.

Friday // 9pm // Crash Mansion [199 Bowery @ Spring Street] // Free (but please make a donation!)

More suggestions in this week's music picks.

2005_08_artspony.jpgONE WOMAN SHOW: Eileen Kelly's My Pony's in the Garage is a "darkly funny one-woman show written and performed by acclaimed comedian Eileen Kelly. From electrocution and accidental overdose to hand-me-downs and family pets, her reflection on childhood and parenting is reminiscent of David Sedaris."

Saturday // 2:15pm // 279 Church Street [Between White & Franklin Sts.]

ART: FreeNYC points us to an art exhibit...at Crobar! Sounds like a nightmare, but could also be sort of fun. ARE Weapons are also doing a live set to accompany the art, which is all by Christopher Glancy.

Friday // 10-Midnight // Crobar [530 West 28th Street] // Free with RSVP

COMEDY: Celebrated sketch comedy group, FEARSOME, is throwing a titillating singles soiree in an effort to raise funds to travel across country to partake in Portland’s "Best of the Best" Sketchfest.

The night features a heart-stopping, body-rocking Hula-Hoop Burlesque performance, prizes and giveaways, a Live Auction of FEARSOME members. Performances by FEARSOME, and the two other NY sketch groups going to Portland (the all-girl sketch sensation, MEAT, and the all-boy sketch legends, Elephant Larry.) There will also be FEARSOME drink specials and an array of sexy snacks.

Sunday // 8pm-11pm // West Bank Café [407 West 42nd Street], $15

And don't forget, the Fringe Festival starts today! Check out our preview here.

Fringe-wise, we saw HELP! last night at the Linhart, and it was a pretty hilarious send-up of motivational speakers and self-help seminars. Lots of smart physical comedy and some very good actors from Atlanta. Definitely worth a look!
