- Scientists may have found the hangover gene, but this sentence caught our eye: "Other studies have revealed that people of Chinese, Japanese or Jewish descent often carry genes that ward off alcoholism by increasing nausea-producing liver enzymes that make drinking unpleasant." All we can say is, Thanks a lot, Mom and Dad!
- The country's mass transit threat level has been lowered, but, don't worry kids, it's still high in NYC...
- And that's good because the FBI has "uncorroborated" reports that terrorists want to use fuel tankers as weapons in terrorist attackers in NYC, LA and Chicago. Well, clearly NYC just can't have anymore fuel delivered here, or if we do, it just comes in small containers, like on bikes.
- A "gunshot-like" sound rings through the John Gotti Jr. trial, and Gotti yelled, "I didn't do it." This time, mister, this time.
- The Staten Island teen found dead under her mattress may have known her attacker; sources are saying she spent a lot of time on the Internet and gave her cell number to strangers. Uh oh.
- The NY Press looks at the history of the dance palace, The Orpheum.
- There was another machete attack, this time by a teen gang in the Bronx.
- Gawker wants to know who the hotties of New York magazine are.
- Tomorrow's the Citywide Beach Volleyball Tournament at Coney Island. Starts at 9AM, ends at 6PM; winners advance to Sunday's tournament.
- Met Mike Cameron might need surgery, and Carlos Beltran has a slight facial fracture. Let's see how the New Mets get out of this!
- Check out this weekend's subway service advisories; Cobble Hill hipsters, you're screwed with the Manhattan bound service.

She's not hating on the Asians terrorcon! That's a legit shoutout of thanks. I imagine that gene is responsible for the disproportionate success of Chinese, Japanese, and Jewish ethnicities while the Irish, Germans, Russians, Italians et al. stagnate in a genetically-prompted haze of whiskey, beer, vodka, wine, etc., respectively. Now what's the emoticon for tongue in cheek again? It's Friday and I'm Irish-American, so I must be drunk and can't remember.

I didn't know you were Jewish... :>)

PS: Why do I feel after reading Dave H.'s comment that I missed the first half of something?

I must be laking that gene because I drink like an Irish.

I think the preceding comment was deleted, and in doing so makes my comment non sequitur and/or insane sounding. So Jen, or moderator, if you want to delete my comment too feel free, 'cause otherwise it reads like I'm an idiot.

wait ... where are koreans on that liver list?

Koreans can hold their liquor pretty well.
Then comes the Chinese who're ok (except the women).

The Japanese seem to be worst. But they seem to love their Whiskey and Shochu anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong about these things. But this is what I have witnessed in this country and in Asia.

joe Blow, Leave Jen Chung alone! So what if she always makes snide self hating comments about chinese people! It's her right as an asian to be self deprecating. It's like when a black person calls another black person lazy and and a thief. It makes sense to me.

Koreans hold their liquor well because of all the miscegenation caused by having their women raped by US soldiers during the korean war. All the Korean bastard children have the liquor gene.
