In the Market: Capogiro Gelato

Gothamist thinks Capogiro gelato may just be some of the freshest, creative and tastiest gelato available for purchase in a supermarket. Gelato aficionados debate the merits of Capogiro with the likes of city favorite Il Laboratorio del Gelato. Capogiro features seasonal, local hand picked ingredients in creative combinations that have previously stopped Gothamist in our tracks. A recent combination that blew us away was rosemary and honey infused goat milk gelato. Very light and pure tasting, with a hint of rosemary and a natural honey flavor that was shocking. Rosemary and honey - who knew? The only issue is that a pint sells for $10 at Whole Foods. Three nights of insane gelato to enjoy in the comfort of your home? We think it was worth every penny.

Well, if you get the gelato at Otto (or the stand in Washington Square Park) it's $5 a serving; it's a big serving, but probably at most a third of a pint. So it's cheaper than the most outrageous price I can imagine.

I tried the Wild Flower Honey gelato this evening and it was delicious. Worth $10 to try or for a special occasion. Too expensive to keep stocked!

no!! i saw the gelato on Daily Candy and ordered it because my mom was coming in town and we just really like ice cream.

and i never write into this site, i just wanted to say that I really like it! didn't realize this stuff was getting so popular and didn't know i could even get it in the city.

I ordered the chocolate lovers' package from their website and boy was it yummy!!! very expensive for ice cream, but sure was good!

I'm going to Philly in a couple of weeks and plan out checking out the store! Want to taste the cilantro gelato!
