THEATER: World Gone Wrong is a "multimedia collage of dialogue, from about two hundred Films Noir and from our current Administration, into a semiabstract, dubbed story of betrayal, corruption, and revenge, as a dying man travels through his splintered memory to find out who murdered him, and bring them to justice. The noir to end all noir!"
The Brick Theater [575 Metropolitan Ave. Brooklyn (In Williamsburg, between Union Ave. and Lorimer St.)] // Performances 8/5 through 8/28 Friday at 9pm, Sat and Sunday at 4pm
ART: What I Did on my Summer Vacation at ClampArt. The summer show was recently reviewed in The New Yorker:
"What I did on my summer vacation..." If the title of this show is misleading, its subhead--"Autobiographical photography and the snapshot aesthetic"--clarifies things. Larry Clark's early Tulsa work sets the tone: casually erotic and rigorously unsentimental, but, on a scale from hot to cool, quite warm. Ryan McGinley practically steals the show with an ecstatic shot of a blond boy swooning in the sun-splashed woods..."
Through August 19 // ClampArt [531 W. 25th St]
WINE TASTINGS: On days like this we just want to relax with some nice wine after work. This site has a massive list of wine tastings throughout the city, so for those who can't jet off to Napa for the weekend...check it out.
MUSIC: If you're in New York, check out the weekend music picks. Gothamist however is debating a roadtrip to the Newport Folk Festival. We love you city, we do - but sometimes we just need our space. Especially when there is a heat advisory and we're asked to turn off our a/c's.
Enjoy the weekend and the hot hot heat.
