Shoot 'Em Up City

While the NYPD continues to make sure crime is falling, there's one statistic that has been rising: Shootings. The NYPD's latest figures show that shootings and shooting victims have increased 9.3% and 8.3% respectively, versus the same period last year. Last week, especially, seemed like there were an unusually high number of shooting incidents. The NYPD says shootings are still down by 54% since 1995. Overall crime is down by 5%, and the murder rate is on track to be even lower than last year.

So I guess this means that shooting accuracy is down.

Or that I-95 up from Georgia has less patrols in the Summer. Ah, the hot days of gun running...

The same thing is happening in Toronto, Canada. Overall Crime is down but shootings are up.
