While the NYPD continues to make sure crime is falling, there's one statistic that has been rising: Shootings. The NYPD's latest figures show that shootings and shooting victims have increased 9.3% and 8.3% respectively, versus the same period last year. Last week, especially, seemed like there were an unusually high number of shooting incidents. The NYPD says shootings are still down by 54% since 1995. Overall crime is down by 5%, and the murder rate is on track to be even lower than last year.

The same thing is happening in Toronto, Canada. Overall Crime is down but shootings are up.
