Emmy Nominations...So Very Boring

2005_07_naveen.jpgDesperate Housewives and Will & Grace both received 15 Emmy nominations today, proving that like every other awards organization, Gothamist just doesn't jibe with the voters. Sure, we're happy that Arrested Development, Scrubs, and Lost got some recognition. But there is no love for programs we'll actually stay at home to watch: Veronica Mars, Nip/Tuck, Gilmore Girls. Even The O.C., which faltered last season - you have to give Peter Gallagher some credit. And why won't the Academy acknowledge the brilliance of America's Next Top Model? But of course we'll watch because Gothamist we can't wait to see the expressions of the Desperate Housewives that don't win.

Check out the nominations here at the Emmys. Think about the beauty of a TiVo. And thankfully, Allison Janney (who we do love) wasn't nominated this year, so there's no chance she can humiliate Mariska Hargitay again.

Okay, Project Runway was nominated. But, still, I'm not having any of these nominations.

Lost is the biggest tease of a show ever...

No Rescue Me either. FX should be a pay cable channel they make such good shows. So odd that these cutting edge programs would make the FOX news division puke up cherries a la' The Witches of Eastwick.

Where are the Gilmore Girls nominations? Jeez, Lauren Graham is awesome as Lorelai, not to mention hotter than any of the Housewives.

Holy shit, The Wire actually grabbed an Emmy nomination? The end of the world may be nigh.

The total lack of nominations for Rosie O'Donnel's "Riding The Bus With My Sister" gives me the impression that there may actually be a god.

What is the name of the guy who sang "You Make Me Feel So Young" in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers?

Peter Tolan and Dennis Leary were nominated in the Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series category for an episode of Rescue Me. I don't know how good the ratings are on that show, but it's definitely one of the best written and funniest shows on tv.

Well Nip/Tuck did get nominated for outstanding casting in a drama series and two for makeup. And Resuce Me did get a directing nomination. But nothing at all for Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars (two of my favorite shows). Hell even Two and a Half Men got something.

I didn't realize that they gave Emmys for commercials, but Budweiser, Aquafina, Starbucks, One.org, and Ameriquest got nominated in that category.

I stupidly held hope that Veronica Mars would get recognized. Silly me, why would anything of quality get picked?

I am happy for Zach Braff, Jason Bateman, and Scrubs though.

And once more, NO nominations for
"Queer as Folk." I would have given
one to Sharon Gless for that great
moment where she declared she'd rather
live in sin than get married in a country
that denied her gay son the same right.
Also, Matt Battaglia was the best
"eye candy" of the last two seasons.
And Will still doesn't have a boyfriend!

:)
