Early Addition
The weather was perfect for today's Mermaid Parade in Coney Island- perfect for seeing lots of topless ladies, that is. There were also lots of guys in full drag, ten-year-old girls wearing fish costumes, and older men showing off their vintage hot rods. Pictures have already started to pile up on Flickr- if you took some, add them there (tags: "Mermaid", "MermaidParade", "Coney Island", etc) or post them to your own site and add the link in the comments on this post!

There are so many great pictures both on the Flickr site and in other places. It was a fantastic day, although I still haven't figured out why the mini-van was in the classic car part of the parade.

I stood along the boardwalk at the beginning of the route and put my images on Flickr as soon as I got home.
It was my first Mermaid Parade and I definitely want to go again next year.

the only reason it's "overexposed" is because of the (photo)bloggers, the flickr accounts and the fact that everybody and their mother has a digital camera and website these days. that's not to say that i wouldn't have been there.

It should be mentioned that our Mermaid in Gold, above, is burlesque dancer Bunny Love. She was remarkable in that outfit. If she can really be said to be "in that outfit" in the first place.
