I don't know what the screening was like that you went to, but the 8:50 on Saturday looked as though they gave out free tickets with the purchase of The Golden Girls DVD. It was nice that people actually read the credits and stayed for the Q&A, though.

The theater itself is nice, however the crowd control absolutely sucks. Big Time. I was at the opening and basically we were roped in a long snaking line in the very, very small lobby. Instead of making the line continue out the door, they just kept letting people in. By the time the previous screening was finished, the lobby was completely full, leaving nowhere for the exiting crowd to empty out into. And once it was time to enter the theater, did they make people proceed in the order that they had lined up in? No. They just opened up all the doors and made it a free for all. It didn't matter if you had been waiting 30 min or 30 seconds. Then what was the f*cking point of waiting in line then? I hope the management of the IFC is reading this. The theater is nice and you did a great job of upgrading the place, but your lack of foresight and planning really pissed off a lot of people in line. For now, I'll keep going to the Sunshine.

The theater itself is beautiful. Lots of exposed brick, luxuriously comfortable seats (imported from France), etc. You can read all about the theater itself in this New York magazine article.

Were the projectionists' union members still outside with their big rat? And: Is there more than one inflatable rat in the city, or do lots of unions just share the same one?
