Eefers, that Hummer served Park Slope well during the blackout of 2003. While the store on Union Street had no power, the bright lights of the Uncle Louie G Hummer lit up the night and allowed neighbors in the 'hood enjoy the tons of free still-frozen-for-the-moment goodies that Uncle Louie G was giving away from his powerless/freezerless shop.

I'm running for Manhattan Borough President, and it's just a darn shame that I wasn't asked about my ice cream choices. I was an editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America, and I helped research the origins of "French Vanilla" (even the word "vanilla," but we shouldn't discuss that here!), "Butter Pecan," "Chocolate Chip," and "Rum Raisin." I promise a chicken in every pot and...WHY DOES THE DAILY NEWS RUN THESE STORIES??
