We've got a four month old and I can tell you in a place like NYC it is impossible not to breastfeed in public. Restaurants and stores are rarely set up to accommodate a nursing mother. And it's not like these women are sitting there topless. It can (and should) be done very discreetly. Having said that, the demonstration was ridiculous. Everyone wants to be a victim.

yeah, i too think babies can suck teat anywhere. i think there was a lawsuit in the late 90's, early 00's.

I can think of a number of things that are just as natural as breastfeeding that I wouldn't want to see performed in public.

I believe NY law says you can breastfeed anywhere, subways included. Hey, kid's gotta eat, and it's better than listening to him scream.

Oh, but it's alright that people see boobs and butts of all sizes hanging out of bandaid size pieces of material called bathing suits which are worn to attract attention as opposed to breastfeeding which is done to, oh my my, FEED A HUMAN BEING.

"Lactivists"! That's great. More and more, I've noticed women breastfeeding in public (parks, coffee shops, etc). I don't understand what the big deal is.
