Who would win in a fight between these no-self-respect having brides-to-be and the ones who fight each other during those big wedding dress barn super sales? Or are they the same people?

Hmm, most of my friends have managed weddings for way less than $50K. And the only way anyone ends up in the wedding cake is when liquor has been involved. I guess that's because we're dumb hicks.

"It is possible to have a New York wedding for less than or equal to 50k."

of course. but is it possible for some sad sack who is having this socially-sanctioned descent into meglomania to actually realize this?

It is possible to have a New York wedding for less than or equal to 50k. Couples can cut corners without looking cheap: include your friends. If you have a buddy who's a chef/caterer, he or she may cut you a deal, especially if you xine the sit-down dinner for a solely cocktails/apps hitching. For my wedding, the maid of honor's mom offered her services for the cake, as she makes them for a hobby. There went thousands of dollars. My wife has oodles of friends who are interior designers; they gussied up the site, the Foundry, in LIC, for free. Get a family friend or relative registered as a minister (Jessie's grandmother officiated—they're very close), saving more money while increasing the intimacy/special factor. See. Easy. Well, it's still stressful as hell.
