Il Posto Accanto, the wine-and-tapas bar that shares an owner with next door's restaurant and bar, Il Bagatto, is a charming enoteca that's not 'inoteca. With an expansive wine list of Italian reds, whites, and roses, when Gothamist stopped in for a visit, the owner made a few food and drink suggestions to make choosing a bit easier. Of the reds, he recommended the Sangiovese di Romangna, Falermo del Massico Rosso (Campania), and Barbarossa Fattoria Pardiso (Emilia Romagna). Of the whites, he suggested the Falanghina (Campania), Vermentino (Sardinia), and Verdicchio (Marche). Pair a carafe of wine with their Antipasto miso della casa, or, house antipasto plate, and you're offered a full plate of five delicacies, with choices such as Roman artichokes, grilled eggplant patties, roasted cherry tomatoes, stuffed mushrooms, and broccoli raab.

Il Posto Accanto is open Tuesday - Saturday, 6 p.m. - 1 a.m. and located at 190 E. 2nd Street between Ave. A & B. (212) 228-3562.
