Zambrano Has an Unbelievable Performance

Usually when the Mets send Victor Zambrano to the mound, it's another loss for the team. In last night's 2-1 victory over the Diamondbacks, Zambrano had his best game ever as a Met. He went 8 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 3 walks. The one earned run Zambrano allowed came in the 9th inning after he was replaced by Braden Looper who picked up his 11th save in a row.

The offense was supplied by Jose Reyes's speed, and RBIs by Carlos Beltran and Mike Piazza. Reyes had three singles and three (!!!) stolen bases, Beltran had his first hit since returning to the line-up Tuesday, and Piazza continues to look better after some dismal times earlier this season.

The Mets play the rubber game against the Diamondbacks tonight as Pedro Martinez takes on Shawn "I can't hit the broad side of a barn" Estes. The Diamondbacks have been a surprise in the NL West, playing their way to a 30-23 record, one that puts them 3.5 games behind the San Diego Padres and would have them leading the NL East.
