One of Gothamist's favorite websites is the falcon cam on the peregrine falcons at 55 Water Street. We've covered the falcons before, but the reasons why falcons love New York City is the amount of food (think pigeons), the skyscrapers remind them of high cliffs, and the fact that New Yorkers' respect their privacy - give or take a video camera. And a few weeks ago, four new falcon chicks were born: Bob, Dennis, Jasper, and Pat - aw! Gothamist would love a baby falcon, but we know better.
The city's FAQ on peregrine falcons, and learn more about the falcons living on the Brooklyn Bridge. And we do enjoy the absurdity of the Saturday Night Live skit, The Falconer.

lol That 1st Falcon looked a little stoned.
I love reading Gothamist, but boy do you guys need a copy editor.

Which are cuter: baby pandas or baby falcons?
The falcons rock! The Birdcam has become a fixture in our office. Forget The Apprentice and American Idol.
The little ones are cute and they grow so fast! It won't be long before they become little killing machines.
another cute animal (lesser panda):

looks like there should be a zipper on that suit.

Can I be your copyeditor? I promise I'm very good.
Falcons are cool because they eat pigeons. I hate pigeons.
"The falcon will dive down onto its prey at speeds ranging from 99 to 273 miles per hour (according to Tom Cade's summary of studies in his book "The Falcons of the World"). A City bridge or skyscraper provides a great deal of open air space and a unique perch for hunting."
