The media's fascination with Sharpton really does the black community disservice. For lazy journalists, it's easy and fun to point to the guy with the funny hair who says outrageous things and say, "He is the voice of black America" and give him an illusion of relevance. It's insulting, really.

1) Fox's comments might not have been sensitive enough for some, but they certainly weren't untrue. 2) Why can't Sharpton just go away? If people wouldn't invite him places, he'd just wither up and die from a lack of attention. 3) I hate to have to justify my remarks with my race, but I'm black, so apparently I'm allowed to say stuff like this.

Anyone curious why the validity of Fox's comment hasn't really been addressed? Seems like he should have included "legal Mexicans, poor whites, persons of Carribean descent and other blue collar workers". AND - Anyone curious about how Al Sharpton got a copy of Crash? I smell bootleg, in which case Vicente Fox probably wasn't too impressed.

Fox's decision to call al sharpton was dumber than his earlier comments. Seems like a rascist notion to believe that al sharpton represents all black people. The DNC made the same mistake. Fox should get some better advisors as he clearly has some strange ideas about the U.S. After his behaviour during the Tawana Brawley case it became clear that Sharpton was a devout rascist himself. Birds of a feather I suppose.

Last time I checked Mexico is a sovereign nation. Fox knows he made a mistake and has admitted as much. But frankly I would lose all respect for him if he gave into Al Sharpton. Whose political black mail Fox is hopefully immune from.
