A few more details have emerged about Sunday's East 10th execution-style murder, and they seem to be saying a few things between the lines. The NY Times and NY Post reported that money, crack cocaine and a semi-automatic gun were found in the apartment of 33 year old Christopher Manley. Also, Manley had an arrest record: A 1988 robbery charge and a charge from this May for possession of a controlled substance. Quotes from neighbors:
- "They [Manley's visistors] all had bikes. In and out - a lot of it. They were all friendly." - Guy Stuttman to the NY TimesThe subtext detector says the evidence implies Manley was a drug dealer or perhaps had a drug problem while he fixed people's bikes at his triplex apartment.
- "He was a nice guy, but a bit shady. He would be around a lot like he had nothing to do, but he still had money." - Michael Conte to the NY Post
- "There were often a lot of people coming and going from the apartment, but they were all really nice guys." - Stuttman to the Post

This is what happens when the kids get involved with the bicycles. These bicycles are the devil's transportation. Just say no to the bicycles.
just don't go implying that him having a lot of sneakers had anything to do with it because that would be prejudicial and ignorant or something or other.
OMG, I cannot believe you are all letting your prejudices and preconceptions blind you to what is obivously the truth of the situation. Free you minds, people, and the rest will follow.
The poor, unfortunate victim was obviously nothing more than a gentle cobbler simply plying his trade in an informal manner to the good bicyclists in the neighborhood. Obviously talented, word of his good works spread through the bikers grapevine that there was a young man who could take a pair of shoes and custom-fit them to the riders feet as well as their bike pedals. And so in this way did he make a living and still provide some good to the world.
One day one of his biker pals, being down on his luck, said I have no coin, but I can pay you in these crystals. Little did our cobbler friend know that in fact the crystals were...**crack cocaine***!!! Oh, dear! Not knowing what these magical crystals were, he also didn't their obvious great worth. And, of course, not knowing either of these things, how was he to know they were stolen! Oh, no! It was only a matter of time before the rightful owner of the magic crystals tracked him down and then and then and then...
see obviously, according to H.K.'s logic, all people who sell shoes and/or fix bicycles are crack dealers.
i am shoe dealer. hear me roar.
All I can say is, I knew the guy, we grew up in the same building. I didn't know him very well, but he was always warm and nice to everyone. Whether or not he had a problem, he's not just an "ex-con". He was a neighbor, brother, friend, son. God bless.
I know everyone who has posted a comment is trying their best to be funny and sarcastic,do yourself a favor stick too your day job if it does exist. All the negative comments must come to an end and this is coming from his brother low lives.
Has there been any new developments in this case? Have the Police found anyone? I haven't heard much about it since it happened.
I find it so sad that everyone is so willing to believe exactly what they read or hear on the media. But don't all black men have guns and sell drugs? Chris Manley was a personal friend of mine. He was a loving son and father, and dependable friend to many. He was known to help people for no other reason than he felt it in his heart to do so. He was much more than a one dimensional cariacture portrayed in the news.
Life is never so simple and no situation should be judged simply by what is read or heard.
no, but thanks for your concern
