A 33 or 34 year-old man was shot in the head in his penthouse on East 10th Street yesterday evening. The victim was shot execution style, and was pronounced dead a few hours later at St. Vincent's hospital. Reports say that the victim was heard arguing with two men before a gun fired at the triplex of 85 East 10th. The Times reported that neighbors were shocked and generally reluctant to talk to reporters, but a neighbor said that "It sounded strange and out of the ordinary. Another neighbor told the Post, "I just know his place was like a train station, people coming and going all the time."
Police characterized the building as popular with young professionals. The victim, who was not that tenant of record, reportedly sold clothing out of the apartment. The Post reported that there were 20 boxes of brand new sneakers and that the victim was pleasant and "who sported 'hip-hop style' clothing.

Nothin says "up to no good" like 20 boxes of brand new sneakers and hip-hop clothing.
thats a bullshit comment. I have a friend who buys sneakers here at wholesale prices and sells them at a big profit on Ebay, mostly to Japanese buyers who cant get sought after US models over there. He has about 100 pairs of sneakers in his apartment all the time. Its the inventory for his business. He is not "up to no good". While this victim was most likely "up to no good" since his fate was to die shot execution style, your comment is prejudicial and ignorant.
oh shut the fuck up SP. Yeah, your friend is legitimate. Good for him. However, odds are that the details as outlined lead to a verdict of "up to no good". Don't be dim.
Exactly. Law abiding citizens aren't murdered execution style in their apartments. If this story comes out that he was a victim of random violence, I'll give it to you and gladly recant and apologize. call me as prejudicial and ignorant as you want, I call it how I see it and am most likely correct.
Its obvious he was up to no good, that what I fucking said you assholes. doesnt take a genius to see that. your comment about having many boxes of shoes in his apartment being an indicator of illicit activity is stupid, incorrect and inconsequential. You miss the point over and over again, and have the comprehension skills of a cockroach.
thank you for resorting to insults and losing your cool. good day sir/ma'am.
Hate to break the news, but they were just quoting the Post - wasn't their judgement.
hate to break the news, but the New York Post is one of the worst rags in the nation and has a well earned reputation for stupid commentary and a propensity to overemphasise the prejudicial and CIRCUMSTANTIAL.
I've always found that malevolence and ill intent increase in direct correlation with the presence and quantity of shoeboxes in one's residence. Look at Imelda Marcos.
I'm not gonna get involved with all of the above, but I had an off-campus roommate in college who "turned our place into a train station" and I can attest that, legally anyway, he was up to no good. Not that illicit businessmen deserve to be executed or the dead need to be spoken ill of undeservedly, but . . . I'm just saying. The "train station" quote stands out because it's depressingly familiar.
Note to NYPD: check the attic crawlspace or the kitchen cabinets. There's at least five lbs. of weed up there/ in there.
P.S. Google Maps satellite image: woohoo! Best site ever.
I remember a guy named Pete Brag who lived in this building and moved tons of shit. He used to front a band named Plastique. I bet you anything its him...

I'll have to agree with the direct correlation of sneaker boxes to up-to-no-goodness.
One of my old roommates had about 30 boxes of brand new sneakers in his bedroom. He had one special sneaker box where he kept his gun.
Needless to say, that arrangement quickly went south.
Pete Brag was born in FL. The brothers of the victim say he grew up in NYC. So thats not looking too likely.
I knew "the victim" very well and he was a nice man. Don't believe everything you read in the papers - remember he was a black man - do you really think he will be described as anything other than a convict or a thug? He was a loving father and friend and will be missed by all fortunate enough to have know him.

I knew the victim along time ago, he was my first boyfriend. If anybody has found out anything, please contact me...
