Last night, Eyebeam held their Contagious Media Showdown, "a contest to create the most contagious new piece of viral media," with thousands of dollars of prizes on hand. Starting today, the entries are available for viewing and "voting" on the Showdown site. The winners are determined after three weeks by unique hits, highest Alexa ranking, most blog links, and most hits for a project using a Creative Commons license.
Favorites of the audience and the panel last night included Crying While Eating, Delivr, Farting Saucers, Miss Beazley, Mo'F'naldo's (pictured above), Ring Tone Dancer (warning, obnoxious ring tone!), and The Brainfreeze.

It kind of seems to lose something when you try specifically to create one of these memes. None of these was particularly "infectious," in my opinion. Maybe I'm getting old, but the "have you seen this" things of today just can't hold a candle to Mahir/I Kiss You, All Your Base, or, sadly, the Hamster Dance.
