Go eat some swine at this annual beer and barbecue festival at the Brooklyn Brewery Yard, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 in advance and $85 at the door, and they're available online. 124 North 12th Street, between Berry St. and Wythe Ave., Williamsburg.

May 21: 11th Annual Taste of Tribeca
This annual event benefits PS150 and PS234 and allows you to sample some of Tribeca's finest fare. 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Duane between Greenwich and Hudson. Tickets ($40/person in advance, $45/person on the day of) are available online or at PS150, PS234, or Bazzini's.

May 22: Innaugural Meeting of the New York Chapter of the New England BBQ Society
Join fellow barbecue lovers at the launching of this local chapter of the New England Barbecue Society, an organization offering "New England grillers the opportunity to learn Southern style barbecue techniques, whether using wood, charcoal, or even gas." It's about time. High noon at Paul Kirk's R.U.B., 208 West 23rd Street. A tasting menu is available for $25/person, RSVP via email to nycbbq@hotmail.com.

May 23: Raw Food and Organic Wines at Counter
If all the meat is too much for you, head to Counter for some veggies. Guest Chef Chad Sarno will prepare a special menu featuring raw food and organic wines for $65 per person, $30 additional for the organic wine pairing. 7:30 p.m., 105 First Avenue, 212-982-5870

May 25: Fertile Ground Benefit for Slow Food in Schools
Slow Food in Schools is "a unique national program of garden to table projects with children that cultivates the senses and teaches an ecological approach to food." Sure beats anything Gothamist ate in high school. Silent auction and wine/hors d'ouvres reception from 7-9pm: featuring a spring menu of American Ark & Presidia foods; live auction from 9-10pm featuring chef's dinners, behind-the-scenes tours, exciting vacation packages, and food! Tickets are $150 and are available online. 37 Main Street, Brooklyn.

I've seen this Pigfest around for the past few years, and every year I think to myself "Hmmm, looks like fun..." then I look at the cost. Gimme a break. $75 bucks for pork, chicken, and beer? I'll go grab myself a nice prime rib and a couple of glasses of syrah instead.
