Tomorrow night (Monday May 9th) comedian Colin Quinn (who, if you're like us, you know first from MTV's Remote Control) will headline an evening of stand-up comedy with Todd Barry, Greg Giraldo, and special guests. The evening will be hosted by the comedy duo and Saturday Night Live writers Slovin & Allen.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit 826NYC’s writing lab for children. 826NYC was founded by Dave Eggers - it's a nonprofit tutoring center dedicated to helping students ages 6 through 18 develop their creative writing, expository writing and English as a Second Language. It also offers a free publishing resource to students, where volunteers are available to assist them in creating their own story collections, zines and other extracurricular student publications. Hmm...what about blogs Eggers?
The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company, a superhero-themed storefront at 826NYC, raises money for the writing center on a daily basis. Has anyone ever been? We like the San Fran based shop better, which deals in pirate supplies.
The event will be held at The Zipper Theater [336 West 37th Street] at 8:30pm, and admission is $20. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the night of the show.

It's San Francisco.
SF or SFO would have also been accepted.
I hope Colin Quinn is actually funny. For the kids sake, PLEASE be funny.
I love when San Franciscans get all pissy about the name of their city. Makes me want to call it "Frisco" all the more.
While I'd never arrrrgue (ugh) against the pirate shop, I think the Superhero Supply Co. is a great storefront. This is Gotham/Metropolis/Bugle-town, after all.
When you buy things there -- things like Anti-Matter, Secret Identity Kits, etc. -- you're forced to declare your Superhero name and that you'll use your purchases for good, not evil.
Something they should probably start doing at Wal-Mart.
I do like the Superhero Supply store, but I liked the (unnamed?) earlier McSweeney's store on 7th Ave in Brooklyn where they sold books by the page, casts of birds' feet, and rented tap shoes by the hour for in-store usage.
