Having been in both Fish Tales and the Cobble Hill Fish Market, I'd say there is a reason the fish is half-priced at the latter -- the quality is no more than half that of Fish Tales. I'd rather buy my fish in Chinatown and walk it home on a summer day than buy it from the Cobble Hill Fish Market.

That said, it would be nice if Cobble Hill / Carroll Gardens / Boerum Hill had at least one more really good fish market. Fish Tales is good, but the shop is tiny, the lines are long, and the prices *are* on the steep side. They could use some decent competition.

Matt,

If a yuppie is someone that has a better life and has done better for him/herself than you, than yes I am clearly a yuppie. I know my geography is off because I never go to Sheepshead because the five guys I've met from there have all been jerks about nabes that aren't deep into Brooklyn. Take your own advice. Ever been to Bed-Stuy? Friends of mine live there. Greenpoint? Ditto. Or do these not count as "true" Brooklyn?

Back to the yuppie thing, trust me - I grew up in a worse hood than you. We can get in a pissing contest later. Have fun playing video games in your parents basement.

Quit being a hater.

PS - The Jets? Tell me your kidding.

Speaking
 of
Jordan's Lobster there is a feature film coming out called
The Lobster Farm that's based on their family business.
They had
a gigantic inflated lobster (about 60 feet long) parked in front of the Tribca
 cinemas for the festival.

Mattsucks you clearly are not a new yorker. 1 your geography is way off and 2 you have no sense of the beauty of outer brooklyn. Put down your Time Out and check out the city. Otherwise maybe you should return to the safety of your pink room at your parents house in Cleveland. Clearly a yuppy. I'm also so sure that you and your husband will own season tickets at the Jets west side stadium.

Matt -- Cobble Hill is pretty Brooklyn. That being said, Jordan's is a great place to get fish as well. They even have a fish restaurant that's awesome.

Fishtales is overrated...rather, overpriced. You can get fish for half the cost a few blocks down at Cobble Hill Fish Market, near the partk on Court. Just sayin...

Hey Matt,

Being that you're WAAAAY down in Sheepshead Bay, you may not realize that Cobble Hill is indeed part of Brooklyn. Is everyone from Sheepshead Bay a jerk?

I guess we can't all live with our Mom and Dad to save rent way the heck out near the Long Island border.

Cobble Hill isn't yuppified (that's Park Slope - also part of Brooklyn), it has what we call f-a-m-i-l-y homes.

Enjoy your train ride.

- A Cobble Hill Resident

PS - I'll bet you have a car too!

Ever been to Jordan's in Sheephead Bay? Check it out. Makes Yuppified Fish Tales look like a sardine can. Anyone from Brooklyn live in Brooklyn anymore?

uh, doesn't all fish in this area come from the Fulton Fish market? Is there a real difference between buying from Fish Tales compared to Chinatown?
