Air America's Liberal Arts

2005_04_artsairamer.jpgHousing Works Bookstore Café is self described as Soho's best-kept secret, and it looks like we're not very good at keeping secrets. Starting this Sunday (and recurring on Sundays) Air America Radio will begin taping their new "Liberal Arts" show live from Housing Works.
The program is hosted by Katherine Lanpher, who also co-hosts "The Al Franken Show" on Air America. In the continuing series she will entertain authors, singer-songwriters and artists in an evening of conversation and performance.

The first evening's program, which will be an hour in length, features
Allison Moorer (country singer) and Steve Earle (musician/author/playwright), who are currently on tour together. Coming up next Sunday, May 1st, is Jonathan Lethem, Eric Bogosian and musical guest Willie Nile.

For those not in the know, Housing works also offers other events as well as a cafe and thousands of new, used and rare books and records. 100% of the profits go to housing, health care and job training for homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.

Air America's first taping of "Liberal Arts" will take place on Sunday, April 24, 8:30pm @ Housing Works Bookstore Cafe [126 Crosby Street (one block east of Broadway between Houston and Prince)]. To listen online or on a good old fashioned radio, check out their list of stations.

    FYI- Liberal Talk Radio

There are some programs on Air America that are worth paying attention to. Here is a website for the archives of one of them (no commercials, and you can download and listen to any of her programs any time at all.):

She is a very smart lady who uses original documents as her source material most of the time. It would be hard to listen to an entire program from these archives and not be impressed by her.

  • Did you mean: "Eric Bogosian"?
