Nets Make Playoffs; Shaq To Eat NJ Soon

shaq.jpgSo, they're in. After a pretty rough season, the Nets managed at the very, very last moment to grab the #8 spot in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs. They accomplished this last night with a huge 3rd quarter rally to beat the Boston Celtics 102-93. Cleveland also won their contest in Toronto last night, but since the Nets had the tiebreaker, Cleveland got nothing and promptly fired everyone.

The reward for this accomplishment is a private jet to lovely Miami! South Beach bar-hopping and the occasional basketball game await Jason Kidd, Vince "Toronto Hate Me" Carter, and perhaps even Richard Jefferson, who will reportedly return for this series. The Miami locals say that South Beach actually gives the Heat an 8 to 10 point advantage for each home game due to visiting team partying, so when Vince misses that uncontested windmill dunk, you'll know why. Game 1 is this Sunday at 3 p.m. on ABC.

More on the Nets' chances at the NY Times. You can buy Nets/Heat playoff tickets for Game 3 at Continental Arena here. Or, better yet, buy some NBA Legos and have a playoff game on your coffee table.

The fact that I put the words 'Shaq to eat New Jersey soon' on a Google homepage has made my evening. Thanks for pointing it out. You're right, I don't think they normally link to blogs.

hey this story's linked on google-news sports. odd because i thought google stays away from blogs when posting news.

  • Actually Tom... if Vince misses an uncontested windmill, it'll be due to the playoff pressure.. 2-21 FG in his first ever playoff game... look for much of the same in his first ever (Nets) playoff game.

It'll have nothing to do with his partying.. the Toronto Club Owner is a non-drinker.. obviously.. the guy is way too much of a mama's boy..

Still cheering him on to make it to detroit rd 2.. want to make the short trip from TO for the underpriced courtside seats. also want to buy vince a drink... and launch it at him...

courtsides are 500-650$ up here... what about MSG?

You're probably right about Diesel eating him alive though.
