Midgets Harassed in Brooklyn

2005_04_postcover0416.jpgIt's Saturday. There's no Pope funeral to cover. There's no royal wedding abroad to mock. So, this weekend, the NY Post tells the story (on the cover, no less) of a midget mother and daughter being harassed by a neighbor. Even though Debra Shea had lived by her neighbor Joseph Izzo on friendly terms for thirty years, for some reason, Izzo "bugged out" and started to bother the 3' 8" Shea and her 3' 6" daugther, Concelean Pegues. Izzo reportedly would chant "Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go" and had spray painted a yellow line outside Shea's home, saying they should "follow the yellow brick road." And Izzo used a number of racial slurs against the half-black Pegues, which was probably why Izzo was eventually charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime.

Its funny after the first few jokes, but after that....
I suspect through all those years, he always wanted to make fun of them but kept his feelings deep inside, then it all exploded into an orgy of hate and poor taste in jokes.

But all in all I'm glad hes been put in his place and give my support to the Sheas. If Mrs Shea ever needs someone to help her reach that jar of cookies on top of the fridge, she knows who to call.

The Post took some liberties in making some midget jokes themselves. What a bunch of f*cking bastards! The Post should quite simply not exist.

Neither should the Enquirer, but they do. And as long as people keep buying them, they will continue to exist. Where's Darwin when you need him?

That woman on the right looks a little like rosie o'donnell. I smell another rosie o'donnell tv movie about this heart tugging incident with Rosie starring as Ms. Shea. Or maybe Robin Williams could portray Ms. Shea.

What's up with using the term midget anyway? That's an old skool circus term. Midgets don't actually exist. They all have some form or another of dwarfism.

yeah, midget is considered a not nice term for people with dwarfism. they prefer the term "little person" or "dwarf".
