While the Knicks lost last night's game by 18 points, they wake up with a real sense of relief this morning. Reggie Miller, the skinny, gawky perennial clutch shooter for the Indiana Pacers, has played his final game at MSG. While Reggie had a rough shooting night (13 points), teammate and fan-puncher Stephen Jackson picked up the slack with 33 points to lead Indiana to a win.
Miller was booed during introductions, but the crowd eventually grew sentimental, with chants for "Reggie! Reggie!" in the 4th quarter. After the game, Reggie Miller hugged Spike Lee, bringing back the crazy memories of his 8 points in 9 seconds job back in 1995 on national television, and his "choke" signals to Lee throughout his Garden career. Miller retires without a championship ring, but did play in the NBA Finals in 2000 against the 1st Shaq/Kobe Lakers championship squad.
More on Miller's farewell at the NY Times and NY Post.
In other NBA developments: The Nets are still hanging in the East's 9 spot after beating the Cavs by 31, and the LA Lakers are now officially eliminated from contention (which is the best thing ever).

oh the memories. i can't believe reggie and spike hugged. i guess it was mutual respect or something, but i wonder how much spike motivated reggie when he taunted him.
It really seemed like Reggie fed off of Spike's actions. I feel old now, remembering those days of the rivalry. Sigh.
It's a longshot, but the Pacers are in the playoffs, so a ring is still a possibility. Let's not write off the skinny fellow until we hear from the fat lady.
The Pacers will not win a ring, not while Reggie Miller is on the team. And its not because hes a bad player, its because hes cursed.
He will never win a ring, and that makes me happy.
Even if he pulls a Malone and joins the Lakers, they won't win while hes on the team.
Wow....don't say Reggie is cursed! I appreciate you saying he's a great player, but give him all his props. He's a legend, one of the greats and you can't deny that! Yes, I am a die-hard Pacers fan, but Jalen Rose is my all-time favorite, not Reggie. But even I (as much as I love Jalen) see how incredible Reggie is. He's an inspiring player, and I don't want him to leave. He gave the Pacers organization so much of himself in the past 18 years, and not just them, the state of Indiana too! He chose failure to not be an option, and gave us so much to be proud of in this state. He may be from Cali, but this is his hometown, and he's a hoosier at heart!
