Sunny and Warm

vis_0405.jpgIs it sunny today? Is it warm? Is Gothamist confused by the lack of cold, rainy weather? Yes, yes and yes. To be sure, Gothamist is confused by a great many things. Yet we are delighted about the sun and warmth. Our normal two-minute walk back from the cafeteria took quite a bit longer this lunchtime. Did anyone else get lost while out for lunch today?

A warm front is going to sneak through our area tonight. Usually warm fronts are oriented east-to-west, separating cool air to the north from warm air to the south. This warm front is approaching us with a north-south orientation, meaning it could get up into the mid-70s in New Jersey on Thursday. Sunny and dry is what the Garden State needs after the weekend's rain. The statistical model forecasts think the city will also reach the mid-70s. Pesky, pessimistic humans (if meteorologists can be considered humans) at AccuWeather, the Weather Service, and weather.com however, think the models aren't considering the cooling that will take place when air from the south passes over the ocean.

The warm front is going to back up on Thursday and we may get some rain and slightly cooler weather on Friday. However, the long-term good news is that the seasonably mild weather is going to stick around for a week or more. With any luck we won't see high temperatures in the 40s until next fall!
