The Grates Are Coming!

Psych - it's April Fool's Day! The Project for Public Spaces has issued its April Fool's newsletter, which includes a faux-Christo project that would involve gating city sewer grates in New York (photo, above). Gothamist loved this "quote" from the Mayor:

"The Gates raised so much money we couldn't believe it. We've got to capitalize on this wrapping craze fast if we're going to fund the MTA's capital budget AND build the Jets stadium."
Hee! Also included in the newsletter: The country's best hydrants and building communities around pillories and stockades - if only!

And Happy April Fool's Day! Do you have any priceless April Fool's stories? We would probably fall for calling Mr. Bear or Mr. Lyon at the Bronx Zoo.

Cool prank! Think it would be exciting to see the promotion of public transit for real. WooHoo...

This morning I came to work to find my stapler in lime Jello.

Yes, it's now the official office prank. (Too bad my stapler isn't red, to add another level to it.)

Jen, I did take a couple pics with my cell phone, for posterity's sake. I'll send them to you.

My coworker Ari got me good, the Tim to my Gareth. Although my stapler wasn't fully suspended in a Jello mold, it was embedded in Jello-filled tupperware. Close enough.
