Sigh. 1. The news only exacerbates the problem by informing the general public that these devices are expensive. 2. People are stealing them because they are slipping into an economic jeoprody that is caused by a confluence of events such as overseas job outsourcing, trickle-down theory economics, stalled job growth, and reduction of social services. Just change your headphones, make a good playlist so you don't have to flash a item that costs the better part of a thousand dollars. Of course as was mentioned, it's cooler to flash it and let everyone know you are rocking an ipod. Maybe you'll meet someone on the train! Better than a Nerve personal one guesses. That being said, there are other mp3 players out there that are just as good if not better than the iPod that won't stand out as much.

Those ipods run upwards of over $600 for the most expensive 60 gig units. No wonder they're such a hot item to swipe. Same for the PSP at around $300. Get a damn remote and use different headphones for god's sake yuppies.
