Our Long Nightmare is Over: The Zuccini Bandit is Nabbed

2005_03_zucch.jpgLook at what the Department of Homeland Security can do: They can catch the Zucchini Bandit in NJ, the veggie wielding criminal who's been terrorizing...um, it's not clear who he's been terrorizing, but he's apparently a dangerous felon. And, no, Fulton Guevara didn't actually hold up a van of zucchini. In 1996, he mugged a man in Queens, asking for $20 and a watch, threatening him with a gun. However, it turned out Guevara only had a zucchini; he claimed he had just been grocery shopping.

Gothamist admits a certain fondness for this story, as it's got the makings of a Borscht Belt joke. And here's the nutritional value for zucchini.
