Gothamist: KEXP NYC

thanks for bringing wfmu to my attention, i've never listened. i happen to enjoy kexp and the music they play...so, i guess, that's "what gives". but i'm certainly open to listening to other stations too!

Is this Gothamist or Seattlest? kexp, funded by Paul Allen, third richest man in America, based in seattle, largely plays safe and oh-so-trendy pseudo-indie rock and gets frequently mentioned on gothamist. Meanwhile, wfmu, funded solely by listeners, based in Jersey City, is totally freeform, has the most adventurous programming of any station in the country, pioneered webcasting and podcasting, never gets mentioned even though they are currently raising funds to survive another year. what gives?

wow, the gothamist logo and the KEXP logo are scarily similar... i smell conspiracy.

I've heard their programming here in seattle and I'm not all that impressed with it. Too much wussy indie pop. But they do have a good straight up punk show on saturday evening. WFMU rocks much harder.

While it seems weird to see radio shows at the MTR, it's a great opportunity. It makes working in Midtown bearable!
