Yankees Split Squad Beats Red Sox

Temporary redemption. That's what the Yankees got last night as a split squad, defeated the defending champion Red Sox, 9-2. The Yankees were in control all night, taking an early lead in the 2nd inning. The fireworks, however, came in the 5th inning with Jason Giambi's 410 foot home run off of John Halama. Giambi's home run came chants from the crowd, which included, "Come on, Juicy!", "Let's go BALCO!" and the such.

The home run was a promising sign of recovery for Giambi, who struggled last season with health issues. When speaking of the home run, he said, "For the critics, it's always nice." Giambi went 2-5 on the evening and said that he didn't hear the chants about steroids.

The two teams meet again on March 29th before starting the season off in The Bronx on April 3rd. All this is just the renewal of a yearly tradition.
