Hipsters, don't feel so bad about being maligned by the old neighborhood residents of Williamsburg for gentrifying the area: It seems that peewee entrepreneurship is also at risk. The NY Post reports that a police captain ticketed a Girl Scout's dad for selling cookies. Hoi Lewis and his 13 year-old daughter, Gracie, were delivering boxes of cookies and collecting money from relatives at 162 Bedford Avenue, when a police captain decided to strongarm the father (Gracie got into the car when they heard the police shouting) and issued a summons for being "observed offering for sale cookies w/o being properly licensed." The Post says that when the family complained, the police commissioner's office sounded shocked as well. Not only is this a crazy story and remind us of our days selling Girl Scout cookies to win a plastic mug, now Gothamist really wants some Girl Scout Samoa cookies. The cop must have been going through doughnut withdrawal. Should have offered him a cookie, but then he probably would have arrested the guy for attempted bribery. Cops are morons. At least roughly 50% of them are.

It's so weird to see this story, because my boyfriend and I bought cookies from that girl! We were at Soundfix a few blocks away, and one of our friends came in with a box of Samoas... and there was a stampede out the door to buy some.
We finished the box yesterday... too bad can't get any more.
the dad probably did something stupid, like make fun of the cop's shoes, or his haircut or something. just be nice to them, and ignore 'em a little bit and they'll leave you alone probably. until they start giving you crap for having a mike's hard lemonade in your pocket. thats REALLY messed up.
