When Gothamist heard that the bombers who attacked Madrid on March 11 had also targetted Grand Central Terminal, our heart fluttered for a second before getting angry. But then we got a little confused when it seems that Spanish and U.S. authorities aren't sure if the bombers' sketches really are of Grand Central. So, Gothamist hopes to chalk this up to just knowing that probably every single place in NYC has been targetted at some time...which means we can only keep on living life and hoping that this madness can end.
And there tends to be an event happening at Grand Central, but not this week. Previously: Gothamist on Al Qaeda targetting the Brooklyn Bridge.

Hmm. Do you remember the Atlantic Avenue Station plot from 1997? That came a lot closer to realization than this Grand Central thing:

Let's not forget WTC '93. Or the various bombing targets (bridges, tunnels, etc.) that put Omar Abdel-Rahman in jail. Really, this has been going on for a while, and "the madness" will probably only end the mass murder of hundreds of innocent Americans is no longer thought of as a reasonable goal, but is made "unthinkable" in the sense that it's an idea that is never thought. Probably, we're not going to live long enough to see that day. It's one of those things we can hope for our grandkids, though.
